The month of June is dedicated to devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Within the Sacred Heart of Christ is contained the entirety of God’s love for the world. Jesus’s Heart suffered so much out of love for us. When His heart was pierced by the lance, blood and water poured out from His right side. In the Old Testament, the prophet Ezekiel wrote about a vision he had of a river of water flowing from the right side of the temple into the desert, giving life to plants and trees. This prefigured how blood and water would flow from the right side of the temple of Christ’s body, from His Heart, to give life and salvation to sinners. At that moment, the Church was born, giving power to the sacraments. The Sacred Heart of Jesus is the source of Life for the Church. I encourage all of you to have an image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in your homes as a reminder of Christ’s love for us and to console His heart by making reparation for sins by acts of love and devotion towards the Heart of Jesus. There is a beautiful practice of having one’s home consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus placing it under the reign of Christ the King. Please contact me or the parish office if you would like this, and I would be happy to come to your home for this consecration and blessing! Jesus told St. Margaret Mary Alacoque in 1675, “I will bless every place in which an image of My Heart is exposed and honored.” Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us!
